WWE has released over 16 Superstars since April, including some huge names like Braun Strowman and Aleister Black. This has been primarily due to budget cuts and it appears they may not be done just yet.
Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Wrestling Podcast recently shared some new information regarding the situation. According to Zarian he was told that the company isn’t done releasing Superstars yet and more could be on the way soon.
“I do know that they want to cut back on these contracts and there are more releases. There will be more. I don’t know when, but I was told, ‘yeah this isn’t the final cut.’ So, we’ll see.”
It’s an unfortunate situation as it’s not good to see anyone lose their job, but WWE is still looking to cut down on contracts and their expenses.
Most stars that are released from WWE have a 90 day non-compete clause before they can work elsewhere as well.
