AEW has a lot of big signings in the companies short, but exciting history but this one may very well be the most shocking.

AEW took to social media today to announce the signing of Paul Wight known of course as The Big Show in the WWE. According to PW Insider, Big Show and WWE were not able to come to agree on a new deal. His contract with the company ended last month, and he wasn’t happy about his last WWE appearance where he was verbally bullied by Randy Orton.

AEW released the following statement:

Paul Wight was a multiple time WWE Champion and a staple of WWE with a career spanning over 20 years. He originally came over from WCW in the late 90’s and quickly found success.

Both Wight and Tony Khan commented on the signing and confirmed that he will be wrestling for AEW.

Tony Khan added the following:

“Paul Wight is one of the most recognizable and impressive athletes in the world. He wanted to come to AEW because he believes that we’re the best promotion in wrestling, and we believe that he has a lot to offer us, both in the ring as a wrestler, and also outside the ring as a commentator, host and ambassador for AEW.”

It’s a true testament to Wight to be once again heading to a new company and reinventing himself after such a long time. We’re certainly happy for him and excited to what’s in store for him in AEW.
