Why Roman Reigns Vs The Rock at WrestleMania 37 is best for business

Roman Reigns retuned at WWE SummerSlam in a shocking turn of events. He quickly laid waste to The Fiend Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman during their Universal Championship match with a steel chair and a pair of spears. He made a clear statement that The Big Dog was back, but something was different. On the following SmackDown Reigns would stun the wrestling world once again aligning with Paul Heyman. The week after that Heyman would speak for Reigns. Reigns said that he was everything WWE wanted him to be, he did everything right and always gave his all for the fans. However, while he was dealing with his illnesses and issues away WWE put the title on a clown and a monster he made. Reigns declared that it was about him now and he was “The Guy” and the only one fitting to be the champion, because all he does is “Show Up and Win”.

A match was then made between The Fiend Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at WWE Payback. During the match Reigns would wait for the perfect moment to enter and capitalize, tossing Wyatt out of the ring and hitting a spear on Strowman to become the new Universal Champion. Reigns had once again reached the top of the WWE mountain, but “The Big Dog” had changed. Then we heard from Heyman on SmackDown who announced Reigns as WWE’s ”Tribal Chief” and said that Reigns will rule over the the company from now on. His first challenger for the title however will be an interesting test for him considering it‘s his own cousin Jey Uso. Reigns has made it clear though, that despite being related he will run through Uso and walk out with his belt like when they were kids.

This is storyline is the perfect opportunity for the company to do something special with things eventually leading up to a blockbuster match between a heel Roman Reigns Vs The Rock at WrestleMania 37. Now let’s talk about how we get there.

With Reigns set to face Jey Uso the company needs to have him absolutely destroy him. We‘re talking a dominant win and a bloody beat down after the match, taking Jey Uso out of action for awhile, and sending a clear message that no matter who you are nothing will get in Reigns way this time. Eventually Jimmy Uso would return from his current injury around December and challenge Reigns for what he did to his brother. Reigns would then do the same thing to Jimmy Uso that he did to Jey Uso, showing no remorse for his actions. WWE could even insert Rikishi if they wanted to to try to plead with Reigns along the way only to be taken out as well. Now‘s where things start to get really good. Around the Royal Rumble or perhaps even in it we would see the return of none other than the electrifying one himself The Rock. WWE could either have him win The Royal Rumble and challenge Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37 or have the Rumble winner pick the WWE Champion. This would still lead to a return by The Rock who would challenge Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37 for the Universal Championship. Back when WWE first announced that they would be heading to Tampa for WrestleMania 36 we reported at TRR that there were plans for a match between Reigns and The Rock to headline the show. The company wasn’t able to make that happen due to The Rock’s demanding schedule but this would be the perfect chance to make up for it. It’s simply the match that needs to happen. If The Rock wins he would add yet another title to his list of accomplishments while defending his families honor. If Reigns wins he pulls off the biggest win of his career on the grandest stage while proving he‘s not in anyone’s shadow.

The Rock and Roman Reigns have even discussed the possibility of a match at WrestleMania recently. The Rock noted that it would be “the match that makes sense” if he were to come back, while Roman Reigns said it’s his job to “put his whole family on the top of the card”. We can only hope WWE feels the same way but we’re certainly ready for it and WrestleMania 37 feels like the right time.
