At WWE Survivor Series we saw the unthinkable become a reality as The Undertaker’s storied career of over 30 years came to and end. Both friends, and foes from the past such as Shane McMahon, Big Show, JBL, Jeff Hardy, Godfather, The Godwins, Savio Vega, Rikishi, Kevin Nash, Booker T, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Triple H, and Kane all gathered in the ring to pay their respects to The Deadman. It was truly an astonishing moment to behold. The man himself would then come to ring as only he can, and declares that after 30 years of digging holes and taking souls it was finally time for him to..Rest In Peace. Undertaker would then pay tribute to his longtime manager the late Paul Bearer as a hologram appeared, and he knelt down for his signature pose. He would then raise his hand at the ramp before disappearing into smoke one last time.
The Undertaker is one of the most decorated stars in the history of the business. Quite frankly if there were a pro wrestling Mount Rushmore many people would have him displayed proudly. After all he’s a 7-time World Champion and held the longest WrestleMania streak for wins ever with an incredible 21-0 record. He also had countless battles with stars like Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, The Rock, Diesel, Kane, Mankind, and the list goes on. Perhaps almost nobody has had the career that he had. That’s certainly something to hang your hat (and gloves) on.
The Undertaker’s career might over, but the moments, and memories he provided us will last forever. If you cried a little bit during his big farewell, you weren’t alone, but now this childhood hero to so many, this icon finally gets to ride off into the sunset. You’ve earned it Taker. We’ll miss you, but your legend will carry on, THEN, NOW, FOREVER.
