Johnny Gargano has been the very backbone of the WWE NXT brand for the last 5+ years. We’ve seen “Johnny Wrestling” create moment after moment with his Rebel Heart strongly beating and the fans cheering.
Tonight at NXT: TakeOver War Games, the NXT old school team of Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, LA Knight and Pete Dunne went to battle with the NXT 2.0 team of Bron Breakker, Tony D’ Angelo, Carmello Hayes and Grayson Waller.
In a hard fought match it was Bron Breakker pinning NXT Champion, Tommaso Ciampa to pick up the win for his team and stake his claim for the title. However, it wasn’t the only thing people were talking about after the match.
Recently we reported that Johnny Gargano’s NXT contract was set to expire December 10th and that War Games could very well be his last match with the company if a deal wasn’t worked out. At this time there hasn’t been a deal on the table yet and it does indeed look like Gargano may be on his way out of the company.
Gargano took to social media after NXT War Games to seemingly post a “goodbye” message to his NXT fans and to thank them for supporting him.
Hell of a run..
Thank you all. ❤️#JohnnyTakeOver pic.twitter.com/VowS6CEHSg

Gargano also wore a special mashup of all his past Takeover gear signifying it may have indeed been his final match with WWE.

Johnny Gargano also promised to make a statement this week on NXT. It remains to be seen if WWE is going to surprise everyone or if this is merely a way of Gargano going out on his own terms, but it looks to be the latter. We’ll find out soon enough either way. If it’s indeed the case than I guess all we can say is…THANK YOU Johnny.
