Jim Ross is a WWE Legend, and arguably the greatest commentator in pro wrestling history. He’s seen some of the biggest and best names in the business come and go such as Steve Austin, The Rock, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. Ross is fully aware that you can never say never in the wrestling business.

Recently on his Grilling JR Podcast, Ross spoke about CM Punk, and his desire to see him back in the ring.

“I thought they had a real good match. I’m a big fan of both guys, Randy and Phil Brooks. I always wished Phil Brooks was back in the business, at least on a part-time basis, because I think he has a lot to offer. Not just as a bell-to-bell performer, but someone that has earned the respect of his peers and that he could help those guys. Those younger guys that were marks for CM Punk’s work, his attitude, being defiant and somewhat controversial…I don’t know how those two guys could have a bad match. I wish Punk was still in the game. Maybe he will be someday.”

It’s clear that Ross like many fans still believes there’s still a chance for CM Punk’s return to pro wrestling. Although WWE may be less likely due to his exit alternatives like AEW, and ROH among others could be a possibility at some point. Punk has made it a point to state that he’s open for business should the right opportunity present itself. Now we’ll just have to see if and when that happens.
