Sunday night at AEW Revolution we finally got to see who the big surprise signing touted by former WWE Star Paul Wight was, and most will agree that it definitely lived up to the hype.
It turned out to be none other than the multiple time WWE Champion Christian. That‘s right Captain Charisma is now a part of All Elite Wrestling. The company announced today Christian will explain things further on Dynamite this week.
However while speaking to Renee Paquette recently on Oral Sessions Christian spoke about what made him make the big switch from WWE to AEW:
It all happened really quick. I wasn’t sure I was going to go after, and all the talks I had were very cordial [with WWE]. I’m good friends with you, I’m good friends with Jon, and he talked to me and had his opinions and it made me kinda think, ‘OK, maybe I am doing myself a disservice if I don’t at least explore all my options.’ And, at this final stage of my career, I ended up having a conversation with Tony and it just escalated very quickly. It went very fast. Within a week, it was a done deal.”
Christian is looking to wrap up his outstanding career on a high note and becoming AEW Champion would certainly be a great way to do just that. There’s no doubt he’ll be an huge asset to a fast rising company like AEW both in the ring and the locker room with his years of experience.
