WWE is known for pulling some crazy ideas out at times (zombie lumberjack match anyone…) and sometimes thinking way too outside of the box. Sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn’t.
WWE is heading back on the road next month as they also bring back live crowds and they are looking for ways to bring in more attention.
The ratings have been frequently lower than the company would like and we previously reported that Vince McMahon is well aware that the product is stale. However, he’s waiting till fans return to make changes.
That could come in the form of some very interesting ideas.
According to Fightful Select, NBC Universal recently pitched an idea that they should have a “Points Month.” This would require them to keep score of matches and determine a winner based on a points system that includes wins, finishing moves, and other factors.
Other ideas include holding a Wrestling World Cup tournament between RAW, SmackDown and NXT and some cross over shows between WWE, NFL and NASCAR.
We’ll have to see if any of these ideas make their way to TV, but the company is clearly trying to find something to bring more appeal and interest to their programming.
